What Can I Expect?

Distributed learning is an approach that does not require a specific, physical location in order to facilitate learning. Distributed learning environments incorporate technology, in-person, distance-oriented and other interactive tools to support various learning styles. Distributed learning activities integrate day-to-day life (work and non-work related). There is an emphasis on collaborative learning by peer and community interaction.

Students are required to attend on-campus orientation sessions and mandatory annual Intensives during Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in January.

Students should schedule for participating in a live online class presentation each Monday evening while courses are in session. These sessions include audio and video participation and are best participated in via networked and not wireless internet connections.

Classes correspond to academic semesters at Humboldt State University and cover the same content as their parallel campus courses. While the courses have been adjusted for an online environment, there will still be expectations of group work, as well as peer communication and dialog outside of live sessions.
