We are currently not accepting applications, but feel free to read on and learn more about working for Residence Life.

The intention of HSU Residence Life is to focus on the education and holistic growth of the student by creating a safe, socially just, and environmentally responsible community. ResLife student staffs play a critical role in the implementation of our mission. Our student leadership positions prepare you for being effectual educators, social justice advocates, and community leaders.

Student Staff are required to play a variety of roles which will allow them to gain knowledge and skills for both personal and professional growth. What you learn from this unique job experience will be transferable to many careers after you graduate from college.

As an office within the Department of Housing, Residence Life employs over 50 student staff in several unique positions to implement our mission. Each position comes with different responsibilities and compensation, but serves an equally important role. Please take some time to review our positions and determine what is best for you.

Community Advocate (CA)

Minimum Requirement to be a Community Advocate:

  • • Candidate must have a cumulative GPA of a 2.25 at the time we hire you
  • • Candidate must have lived one year on campus while attending Humboldt State University or other equivalent experience

Living Learning Community Advisor (LLCA)

Minimum Requirements to be a LLCA

  • • Candidate must have a cumulative GPA of a 2.25 at the time we hire you
  • • Candidate must have lived one year on campus while attending Humboldt State University or other equivalent experiences

Student Assistant (SA)

Minimum Requirements to be a SA

  • • Candidate must have a cumulative GPA of a 2.25 at the time we hire you
  • • Candidate must have one year experience working with any position within Residence Life, Housing + Dining or other equivalent experiences which allow the candidate to share insight and perspective as a former ResLife staff member or student leader. Successful Candidate must be able to serve as a resource to the ResLife staff.

Note: Exemptions to these minimum requirements may be made by the Assistant Director of Residence Life, Housing + Dining Services or his/her designee without any prior notification.
