The College of Professional Studies helps develop professionals who are committed to helping individuals and communities realize their potential. Professional Studies is home to departments such as the School of Business, Child Development, Economics, Education and Health Care.

The College of Natural Resources & Sciences is an ideal fit for students interested in managing and preserving natural resources, or pursuing professional studies in the sciences. Biology, Forestry, Oceanography— these are just a few of the departments within this college.

Outstanding faculty... Who'll actually know your name

Many colleges boast prestigious faculty members. While we’re proud of our accomplished professors, what truly sets Humboldt State apart from other universities is that our students actually know their professors.

Universities frequently focus on Masters and Ph.D. students, packing undergrads into lecture halls that resemble the Houston Astrodome. We take a better approach. We dedicate ourselves to mentoring you, the undergraduate student. Humboldt State is known for teachers who treat their students like family, including them in all kinds of experiments, lab research, and field work. At HSU, you won’t have to compete for your instructors’ attention.

Small school with a big reputation

HSU consistently ranks among the top regional colleges in publications, such as U.S. News & World Report, Money, Making a Difference College Guide, and Outside Magazine. The Princeton Review rates Humboldt State a Best Western College.
