Students may declare and complete a second major only if they meet the following criteria:

This policy covers Independent & Directed Study and Senior/Master’s Thesis & Project courses in which the vast majority of learning will be the responsibility of the individual to seek out and acquire knowledge. The following course numbers are appropriate for these S-class courses: 

199, 299, 399, 499, 599, 699, 799 Baccalaureate/Master’s Directed/Independent Study

490/690 Senior/Master’s thesis

492/692 Senior/Master’s Project

EM:P01-02 Violence and Threats of Violence Prohibited

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

A major component in a student’s educational experience is the opportunity to participate in open discussion outside the classroom. Further, students should have a place on campus where campus club events can be advertised, club tabling can occur, and outdoor campus-wide events may take place.

The period during which students can withdraw from classes with a serious and compelling reason earning a “W” on their academic transcripts is limited to the fifth through tenth week of the semester.

Resolved: That the Academic Senate of Humboldt State University recommends to the Provost that Curriculum Proposals 09-300 to 09-324 be approved in order to transform the existing Interdisciplinary Studies (IS) Major Options (Ethnic Studies and Women’s Studies) into a new IS Major Option: Critical Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
