Sustainable Future Speaker Series - Nov 14

November 14, 2013
Dear colleagues and friends,

We are very pleased to welcome Susan Handy as the next speaker in the Sustainable Futures speaker series. Susan will speak on Thursday, November 14 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in Gist Hall room 218 (GH218) on the HSU campus. The title of her talk is “Driving Less.”

Dr. Susan Handy is Chair of the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at the University of California Davis. Her research interests focus on the relationships between transportation and land use, particularly the impact of land development patterns on travel behavior. Her current work focuses on the choice to bicycle as a mode of transportation. She is a member of the Committee on Women's Issues in Transportation of the Transportation Research Board and an associate editor of the Journal of Transport and Health.

Transportation is a central element of all of our lives, and it is also strongly linked to key environmental, economic, and planning issues. Susan's talk focuses on transportation strategies and policies that can lead us away from a strong dependence on driving. It should be a very interesting one, and we encourage you to attend.
