Director of Financial Services Candidates: Open Forum

Two candidates have been selected for on-campus interviews for the Director of Financial Services. Open Forums for any staff, faculty and students who want to meet the candidates are invited to meet the candidates in the Student Business Services (SBS 405) building.

Wednesday, May 21 (11:00am – 12:00pm): Geoffrey Buchheim

Geoffrey Buchheim is a graduate of Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Science/Business Administration with emphasis on Finance, as well as a Masters of Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. He is a Certified Management Accountant. Professional memberships include Government Finance Officers Association, California Society of Municipal Finance Officers and Institute of Management Accountants.

In his current position as the Financial Services Manager at the City of Menlo Park, he’s implemented processes for preparing the City’s annual financial statements; created and trained staff in the City’s financial and budgeting information systems; prepared the CAFR, annual City budget and 5-year Capital Improvement Budget; coordinated annual audit and prepared necessary schedules. Prior to that, he was an Accounting Manager/Management Analyst for the City of San Bruno, where he created and implemented new processes for tracking Highway Users Tax revenues and expenditures; provided annual and mid-year budget reporting and analysis; monitored and analyzed capital improvements programs; coordinated annual audit and prepared corresponding schedules and reports. He was also an Accounting Manager for Curry County, where he created and implemented new fixed asset accounting procedures, financial policies and internal controls manuals.

 

Thursday, May 22 (11:00am – 12:00pm) in SBS 405: Brian A. Mitchell, CPA, 

Brian Mitchell is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science/Business Administration in Accountancy. He is a Certified Public Accountant. He also serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for the McKinleyville Union School District.

In his current position as Vice President of Finance for Security National Properties, he developed processes to create multi-year financial projections and budgets; developed and managed regulatory risk management/internal audit departments; provided data/fiscal analysis and created financial pro formas. Prior to that, he was an Audit Manager for David L. Moonie & Co., LLP where he was responsible for oversight and coordination of multiple audit engagements and personnel, including updating audit procedures and financial statement. He was also a Senior Accountant at Deloitte & Touche, LLP where he was responsible for planning and performing the audit of financial statements in accordance with SEC, GAAP, GAAS, PCAOB and professional standards.
