CONTEMPORARY ART

What is Contemporary Art?

Weekend:
Friday, July 12 (5-7 p.m.)
and Saturday/Sunday, July 13-14 (9 a.m.-5 p.m.)

Instructor: Julie Alderson

In this weekend session we will work to answer the question: “What is contemporary art?”

Through slide lectures and discussion, as well as gallery and studio field trips, we will explore the topic of art in the contemporary world.

What do artists make today, and why do they make it? What materials and ideas are important? Why does any of it matter?

No previous experience with art history is necessary.
