The Basics of Bookmaking
July 15-19 (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.)
Instructor: Rhiannon Alpers
Learn the fundamentals of bookmaking: materials (paper, cloth, board, adhesives), tools, vocabulary, and resources. Create four books during this fun-filled week.
We'll cover a wide range of structures: Single-section hard cover (under 20 pages, but elegant); accordion hard cover (stretch your thoughts and see them at once); coptic stitch (display the spine in all its glory without glue); and the classic hardcover (must-try traditional binding).
Geared towards beginning to intermediate students, with basic cutting, measuring and gluing skills.
