System Status
Accessed through myHumboldt, PeopleSoft HCM is one element of the California State University Common Management System (CMS). CMS is an information technology infrastructure that integrates the critical administrative functions of Human Resources, Finance, and Student Services across all 23 CSU campuses plus the Chancellor's Office. The other element is PeopleSoft Finance.
The software behind CMS is provided by Oracle Corporation's PeopleSoft Enterprise, and is housed in a secure data center facility in Salt Lake City managed by Unisys on behalf of the CSU.
The following OS/browser combinations are certified for use with PeopleSoft HCM:
Anyone with access to PeopleSoft HCM must change their HSU password every 120 days for security reasons.
Classes and job aids relating to the use of PeopleSoft HCM can be found on the Training and Professional Development website
Faculty and Advisors – go to Faculty Center Help (also available through myHumboldt) for more information on what PeopleSoft HCM provides for you.
Students – go to Student Center Help (also available through myHumboldt) for more information on what PeopleSoft HCM provides for you.
Additional PeopleSoft HCM product information is available on the Oracle website.
The goal is for IT staff to create or modify database access requests within two business days of receipt of the request.
Access to PeopleSoft HCM is online through myHumboldt.
Like any other online service at HSU, you'll need your HSU User Name and Password to log into PeopleSoft HCM.
Access to PeopleSoft HCM is automatically created or removed in a nightly process based on certain activities, including the availability of a signed confidentiality agreement, for people in the following roles (all Student Center and Faculty Center links should be accessed through myHumboldt):
Non-teaching faculty, staff, and student workers must have a signed confidentiality agreement on file with Human Resources and formal permission to access the relevant databases.
To request access, complete the Access Request Form, have your manager sign it, and forward it to the ITS Project Office in Gist Hall, Room 209. The entire process should take no longer than five business days.
You'll receive an email from CMS Access Request once access has been granted. You can then log into PeopleSoft HCM using your HSU User Name and Password. If you're a student worker, you'll need to add "_CS" (without the quote marks) to your HSU User Name to access PeopleSoft HCM through myHumboldt to ensure you're granted the appropriate permissions.
You can view a comprehensive list of all production and non-production databases and associated activites on the Instance Management page. This will help you to find the database most suitable for your needs.
PeopleSoft HCM (and myHumboldt itself) is protected by a time-out period which logs you out of the application if you have not accessed it 45 minutes. You'll see a warning message before the system logs you out, at which point you can choose to stay logged in.
Think security when you log out of an application or myHumboldt and be sure to close your browser to fully quit or exit the application.

Access to Human Resources and Financial databases is governed by policies covering protected data issues, as well as the more general HSU Appropriate Use Policy
