(ITS Staff only)
HSU’s Institutional Review Board has approved the use of MAP-Works to collect and analyze student information. Faculty/staff must agree to a confidentiality statement when accessing the system for the first time. The confidentiality statement must be agreed to before access to student information is allowed. Access to survey data is limited to only those personnel who need to see it (for example: a faculty advisor can only see the results for the students they advise and no one else).
HSU researchers will be using data for institutional planning purposes. Data downloaded by HSU for institutional research, planning, and student success purposes will be stored on an HSU-operated secure server that is accessed only by authorized HSU CITI-trained staff using password-protected, networked computers.
Data transmission is secure. Encryption is used for all communications and data transfers related to data collection and general operation of the MAP-Works system. Data will be stored by MAP-Works in servers located 85 feet underground in Springfield, MO that are monitored by a guard 24 hours a day with motion sensor cameras located throughout the facility. Access is controlled through the use of fingerprint scans and swipe care security. Nightly, monthly and annual tape backups of all critical systems are conducted as well as 24-hour server monitoring. All web and database servers are protected by advanced firewall security, are password protected, and can only be accessed by appropriate MAP-Works personnel.
