Leading Indicators of Academic Progress Spring 2011
This study examines first-time, full-time freshmen as they enter the institution, their progress through and after their first semester and benchmarks after the first and second year that contribute to or diminish degree completion. Although the long-term and ultimate measurements of institutional effectiveness are retention and graduation, individual course success and successful completion of college level math, English, and gateway courses indicate if students are on the path to timely degree achievement. This longitudinal report looks at some leading indicators that may contribute to low degree completion and longer time-to-degree at Humboldt State University.
