All exhibitions are produced by HSU students in the Museum and Gallery Practices Program, who are learning practical skills in the professional setting of professional galleries.
With artworks on loan to us from the Froelick Gallery in Portland, Oregon, the exhibit features drawings, paintings, prints and sculpture by artist Rick Bartow, a member of the Mad River Band of the Wiyot tribe from Northwestern California.

A dynamic exploration of California’s ecological issues by some of California’s leading contemporary artists, Ignite! The Art of Sustainability examines natural and human forces that have shaped the current landscape of California.
Known for their focus on environmental issues, the artists were invited to join scientists, environmentalists, and leaders in business and museums for conversations that have inspired regional collaborations to seek solutions to ecological challenges.

Originally from Missouri, Lush Newton settled on California’s North Coast in 2001. Here, she melds her experience at Hallmark Cards and her work as a character artist at the Walt Disney Company with her over-the-top cartoon-sculptural inventions—informed by affectionate send-ups of the "Hillbilly Culture" of her native Ozark home and references to the tradition of boisterous cartoons, circa mid-Twentieth Century America.

Susanna Bluhm's work blends abstraction and representation to create landscape environments that engage the viewer's imagination and emotions. Bluhm utilizes many art materials, including, oil, acrylic, gouache, pencil, and colored pencil to create her drawings and paintings. Her style is painterly, incorporating a variety of painting techniques that selectively flatten and expand the depth of her environments.
