TRAVELING?

The SHC will not be doing travel consults this semester. Please vsit the CDC travel website for information on recommended immunizations & travel medications for the country you plan to visit. The SHC is available to give immunizations, however, if medications or completion of forms are required, you will need to contact the Humboldt Co. Public Health Dept or a local medical provider for assistance.

Welcome

The Humboldt State University Student Health & Wellness Center is an accredited outpatient medical facility which serves enrolled HSU students. Basic medical services are available at no charge and elective services are available at low cost. Our services include health education, primary and urgent medical care, X-ray, laboratory and pharmacy. The Student Health & Wellness Center's medical professionals are dedicated to meeting the health needs of the student community, promoting wellness and independence, and collaborating with local and regional resources to provide access to comprehensive services.

Mission Statement

The Humboldt State University Student Health and Counseling Center strives to support the academic mission of the University by assisting students to maintain an optimum level of personal health. Toward this end, the Student Health and Counseling Center:

  1. Educates and empowers students to maintain physical and mental health by promoting healthy lifestyles;
  2. Provides high quality, accredited, professional health and counseling services for acute injury, illness, emotional distress as well as limited routine preventive care in a welcoming environment;
  3. Educates students to prevent and take care of preventable problems through self care;
  4. Assists students to find necessary services beyond our scope;
  5. Provides services in a confidential, culturally appropriate manner;
  6. Solicits and encourages student input.

Are You A New Student?

Information on immunization requirements can be found on the Immunization Information for New Students page. Providing proof of immunizations is a two-step process: submit your immunizations through the Secure Message Portal AND fax a copy of your immunization record to (707) 826-5042.

Nursing Service for After-Hours Care

Students who need medical assistance when the Health Center is closed may call the Nurse Response Service at 1-866-724-5057.

Avoid A Hold On Your Registration!

Students: a hold will be placed on your ability to register for classes unless the health center has copies of your immunization records. Please note that, even if you gave them to Admissions as part of your transcripts, you still need to file them with the health center.
