“I love it. It’s a great workout and having a physical outlet helps relieve stress. I don’t think I could do school without some kind of physical stress release. You also meet so many different people. Our club has tournaments and sometimes we have movie nights where we get together and watch all the bad fencing movies… they’re just cool people to hang out with.”- Jess Coulter, HSU Alumna
Plenty of Ways to Get Involved
Part of what makes HSU a great place to live are all the events that bring our students, faculty, friends and family together.
Kickoff off the school year with Welcome Home to HSU, which starts on August 20 and goes through September 11. See what makes HSU great! Meet new people, share new experiences, and start the year off right. Welcome Home to HSU is a great way to get to know your campus and local community. Look for more information at orientation this summer.
And that's just the beginning! Humboldt State is home to more than 180 clubs that promote everything from your academic major to expanding cultural perspectives. Why join a club? Because they are fun and a great way to make your mark on HSU's ever evolving community. Plus, you will meet people that share your interests and get to blow off that after class steam.
Other Events We Host Every Year:
- Homecoming & Family Weekend
- HSU Day & United Way's Day of Caring
- Campus Dialogue on Race
- Various Multicultural Center events (including Social Justice Summit & Multicultural Convocation).
- SLAM (Sustainable Living Arts & Music Festival)
Check out the HSU Events Calendar for a list of events happening right now.
