Orbs by Dorian Daneau

The piece, Orbs, evolved as a response to the casting process. It is an experiment in forum and space. I like to work with cast metal for several reasons. First of all, it is shiny.  Secondly, it is heavy; the implied weight of the piece makes it seem to take up a lot of space and hold that space firmly.  I wanted to see if I could make all that weight float above a space. I’m also interested in bronze for its incredible durability. I like to imagine my work existing thousands of years from now as archeological evidence, a mysterious relic from a forgotten time.
