As a child I grew up in a house full of antiques; books, furniture, buttons, pictures, and various heirlooms passed down from generation to generation. These inherited objects were very important to my parents, so they taught me to appreciate and treasure them as they did. Naturally, I became interested in objects, ideas and images from the past and the stories that they tell, which has inspired the work that I create today.

For centuries, cultures worldwide have turned valued materials into body adornments to show wealth and importance. Influenced by the perceptions of jewelry from the past, I am interested in taking everyday objects, such a tape measure, a stamp, or a porcelain doll and elevating them to a height of importance and preciousness. By recreating or highlighting each object with precious material, such as silver, the viewer is able to see the object in a way they may not have seen it before.
