An annual summer week-long program in July that celebrates the folkloric music, songs, and dances of Afro-Cuba. The Association for Fire Ecology (AFE), in association with Humboldt State University, presents the Interior West Fire Ecology Conference. The area of interest for this conference includes the Great Basin, Columbia Basin, Northern Rockies, and Cascade-Sierras. Workshops and short courses, a poster session, and the annual AFE awards banquet are usually part of the conference. This 2-day conference on campus is offered each spring in early March. Open to students, university staff and community members, it offers keynote speakers, workshops, presentations and social events will focus on art and activism, while honoring the movements and struggles of the past. The Association for Fire Ecology (AFE), in association with Humboldt State University and the Southwest Fire Science Consortium presents the Southwest Fire Ecology Conference. This conference engages researchers, decision makers, and practitioners across disciplines in friendly roundtable discussions on key issues, informed by scientific and practitioner talks and panel debates. The conference addresses fire's role in restoration of watersheds and wildlife habitats, and in sustaining ecosystem services for future generations, with a focus on the fire-adapted ecosystems of the North American Greater Southwest. Ecological Model Selection in the Life Sciences

This is a 2-day course on the Information-Theoretic approach to statistical inference, presented by Dr. David R. Anderson, Emeritus Professor, Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. This course will focus on the practical application of these new methods and are based on Kullback-Leibler information and Akaike's information criterion (AIC).
