Campus Closed Through the Weekend Amid Ongoing Protest

ARCATA, California — Protesters continue to occupy Siemens Hall, plus another building at Cal Poly Humboldt. Campus will now be closed through the weekend, and work and instruction continue to be remote. The University is making various contingency plans, including possibly keeping campus closed beyond that.  - April 24, 2024 - 2:14 p.m.

Basic Wildland Firefighter Training

Get a summer job or a career with a natural resource agency. Learn prescribed burning for habitat and conservation management and obtain national certification. This training is part of the wildland and prescribed fire qualifications system used by all federal agencies (such as the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs or U.S. Fish and Wildlife) and many state and private agencies.

All courses (L-180, S-130, S-190) are combined and will be placed on a single certificate, signed by the lead instructor and awarded to each individual student upon successful completion of the entire 40-hour course.

Prior to participating in this course, you must complete the following two certificates online:

Please print out and bring your certificates to the first day of class. Release of Liability Form required.

You must be at least age 18 by the start of the course, to be able to register.

Mon.-Thurs., March 11-14, 20248 a.m.-5 p.m. (on campus: TBA)
& Fri., March 15, 6 a.m.-7 p.m. (off campus field day)
