Online MA in Applied Anthropology

The Master of Arts in Applied Anthropology at Humboldt State University is an innovative limited-residency program designed train students as competitive, skilled practitioners ready for in-demand careers in today’s public and private sector job market. The program begins with a 5-week summer institute on the HSU campus where students receive hands-on methods training specific to their field of interest in applied archaeology, biological anthropology, or cultural anthropology. Leadership Studies: Online Interdisciplinary Degree Completion Program

An innovative degree completion program (BA in Interdiscliplinary Studies with an option in Leadership Studies) designed specifically for aspiring leaders. This program was developed in collaboration with business and public sector executives. Seasoned professionals will lead you through a practical curriculum designed to help you discover, develop and practice your leadership capabilities, knowledge and skills. Social Work Online BA and MSW

Designed for professionals already working in the mental health field field as well as first-time college students, this program offers a way to earn a BA or MSW online at Humboldt State University. For the BA program, applications to CSU are due Nov. 30, and a social work major application form is due Jan. 31, for fall program admission. For the MSW program, see the Social Work Online website.

Ecotourism Planning & Management Certificate Program

Learn about global and national trends in tourism, principles of ecology-based tourism, the role of ecotourism in community development, sustainable architectural and site designs and much more. Exercise Nutrition Certificate Program

This ONLINE program is for students and working professionals who wish to expand their knowledge of the complex relationship between nutrition and exercise. To earn this certificate, students must complete four 3-unit classes, for a total of 12 units. Faculty Preparation Program: Teaching in Higher Education Certificate

Do you wish to pursue teaching in community colleges and universities, or enhance your teaching career? This series of online courses introduces prospective and current faculty to the roles and responsibilities of teaching in higher education and specifically addresses teaching, learning and technology issues in the college classroom. Institutional Research Graduate Certificate

This ONLINE interdisciplinary 18-unit certificate program provides an introduction to the field of institutional research and is designed for those pursuing as well as starting a career in institutional research. The program is also for students and entry-level career professionals interested in exploring the discipline of institutional research. Three online courses are included in the Certificate:

  • PSYC 550: Introduction to Institutional Research
    Overview of the field of institutional research, planning and assessment and data analysis
  • PSYC 551: Applied Research in Higher Education
    Quantitative and qualitative research methods to analyze institutional databases and assess university outcomes
  • PSYC 552: Diversity Research in Institutional Research
    Primary research in a university/institutional setting with required Institutional Review Board procedures, quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistical tools

Fundraising Certificate

"New Designs in Fundraising" is a new certificate program beginning in January 2014. This affordable program offers a practical education for nonprofit organizations, development departments and individuals interested in creating or strengthening fundraising efforts. The courses will help participants develop a more comprehensive view of nonprofit fundraising, explore principles of fundraising, case statements, fundraising strategies, donor development and engagement, annual campaigns, major gift campaigns and special events. A certificate will be awarded with completion of the four courses and one NorCAN workshop in the emphasis of your choice. LEARN MORE...
