Centennial Time Capsule Burial
11AM, In front of Library

Witness history as we bury the Centennial time capsule in front of the library. The capsule will be filled with items that represent the HSU campus compiled by students, staff and faculty.

Ideafest
Nelson Hall

Ideafest will showcase a large variety of current student projects and research in the form of poster presentations, performances and demonstrations.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume from their favorite decade. Awesome music, prizes, free hors d' oeuvres, a speakeasy themed beer/wine no host bar with karaoke, dance performances, special screenings of the Centennial Documentary, a photo booth, games and more.

Screenings of HSU's Centennial Documentary
Every hour, beginning at 9 p.m.
Directed by HSU Alum Benjamin Bettenhausen (‘07, Physics), the film takes a look at the university’s first 100 years through the eyes of Emeritus Faculty and the memories of alumni.

HSU Composers Centennial Concert

Fulkerson Recital Hall
The Composers Centennial Concert celebrates 100 years of creativity at HSU with compositions by faculty, staff and alumni, featuring the premiere of “Reflections in Time” with words by four HSU poets and music by Brian Post. Other composers include alums Halim Beere, Dante De Silva and Ryan MacEvoy-McCullough, as well as faculty Gil Cline and Eugene Novotny, and staff pianist John Chernoff. Performers include the Vipisa Trio, Elisabeth Harrington, members of Humboldt Bay Brass Band, and Daniela Mineva on the HSU miniature carillon. Concert produced by the HSU Department of Music.

Centennial Speakers Series: James Balog- Chasing Ice Live!

Van Duzer Theater
A decorated photographer, avid mountaineer and climate change researcher, James Balog is the founder of the Extreme Ice Survey (EIS), the most wide-ranging photographic study of glaciers ever conducted.

The project has been featured in National Geographic, on PBS's NOVA, in two books, and is now the subject of an award-winning documentary, Chasing Ice.

This event is made possible in part by gifts from HSU alumni and friends to the Humboldt Loyalty Fund.
