Criminal Justice Dialogue

The Criminal Justice Dialogue is focused on raising awareness of how our criminal justice system operates and how that effects us as community members and/or students. Local and non-local speakers will present on topics such as Disproportionate Minority Confinement, California Community Realignment (AB109), Local Zero Tolerance Policies, Effects of prison on the families of the incarcerated, and Grassroots Resistance to the Prison Industrial Complex.

HSU Centennial: The Library

The Library at Humboldt State University has a rich history and a developing future as its academic, cultural and research methods shift through time.

In this ongoing series, Humboldt State Collections librarian Joan Berman will explore the relationship of Humboldt State University to the communities and places of Humboldt county as documented by Humboldt Room collections. She will be joined by key players in the stories.

Joan Berman has been a librarian at Humboldt State University since 1972 with prior experience as a children’s librarian in the Bay area and a reference Librarian at UC Berkeley. She became head of the HSU Library Humboldt Room in 1997.

This event is part of HSU's 2013-14 Centennial Celebration.

The Evolution of Information - HSU Library Exhibit Opening

The campus and public are invited to an exhibit opening, which is part the of Library’s Showcase Month throughout March.

When the University was founded in 1913, Humboldt State provided a library to its students and faculty. This exhibit will feature the changing nature of information over the past 100 years. From books to e-journals, the library has provided the foundation of scholarly research for a century. Join the library in celebrating this exhibit opening, including refreshments and door prizes!
