As F.R.E.E. we have noticed that there is a lack of artists of color in our local culture of Humboldt County, disproportionate to the demographics of the area. F.R.E.E.'s goal is to showcase performers who resist the mainstream music industrial complex, using their music to perpetuate culture and resistance through various artistic expressions. Music is a powerful tool for expressing ideas of change, active resistance, community accountability, and mutual aid. Consequently, this event will contribute to the development of supportive communities, both on and off campus, highlighting the power of bridging differences and acknowledging similarities.
