Take A Child Outside Day at Sequoia Park

Sequoia Park
Take A Child Outside Day is a festival of fun outdoor play for kids and their caregivers. From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

On Sunday, September 29 a wealth of local environmental educators will offer nature-based activities, games, and music throughout the City of Eureka’s Sequoia Park. Kids are invited to fill their “eco-passport” by adventuring though the park with their adults and participating in these activities. Additionally, teachers and school staff are invited to attend and learn about field trips, in-class presentations and other opportunities for their students at each station.

This event is sponsored by North Coast CREEC (California Regional Environmental Education Community), a regional network made up of over 100 organizations providing environmental education opportunities for area youth. A dozen of these organizations will offer activities at Take A Child Outside Day including the Humboldt State Natural History Museum, Friends of the Dunes, Humboldt Wildlife Care Center, Nature Joe, Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Bureau of Land Management, HSU’s Telonicher Marine Lab, and the Schatz Energy Research Center. These hands-on activities include such things as creating a nature journal, making a model jellyfish, and meeting live snakes, toads, and owls!
