HSU students, faculty and staff are invited to an open forum with California State University Chancellor Timothy White during as part of his visit to the HSU campus April 8-9. Professor Noah Zerbe will host the session and Chancellor White will answer questions.

Clothesline Project Workshop

Nelson Hall East
A space for women survivors to make t-shirts expressing their emotions, thoughts and feelings. Shirts will be donated to the Clothesline Project, in which shirts are hung from clothesline to raise awareness about the problem of violence against women.

Humboldt Bay Sea Level Rise Adaptation Planning Project

Aldaron Laird is a sea level rise planner for the Humboldt Bay Sea Level Rise Adaptation Planning Project. He will present his recently completed project in which he inventoried and mapped Humboldt Bay’s shoreline to assess its vulnerability to sea level rise. He will identify infrastructure and land uses that are susceptible to sea level rise due to climate change. Anyone interested in GIS, local land use planning, environmental science, geography, geology, or all of the above should attend this lecture.

Aldaron has a comprehensive background in environmental planning and he specializes in regulatory compliance with California's aquatic environments. Since 2006 he has served as the Director, and currently the president of Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District, and as the Director and the Chair of the North Coast region for the Association of California Water Agencies. In 2007, he produced a digital historical atlas of the Humboldt Bay and Eel River Delta. In 2012, he completed the Humboldt Bay Shoreline Inventory, Mapping and Sea Level Rise Vulnerability Assessment report.

Beijing Chamber Ensemble

Fulkerson Recital Hall
A quartet of internationally renowned musicians now teaching at Remnin University in China come to HSU as the Beijing Chamber Ensemble to perform works by Beethoven (the “Ghost” Trio) and Brahms (the “Werther” Quartet) in a Guest Artist Concert.
