6:00 pm-10:20 pm	15th Annual Latino Film Festival Minor Theater Join us for a three-day seminar featuring three films from Spain. There will be a half-hour presentation in Spanish and English at 6:00 p.m., followed by a screening of each film. After the film screenings, there will be a panel discussion. The guest speaker for this year’s festival is Dr. Aurora Morcillo-Gómez, Professor of History at Florida International University, a specialist in women and gender relations under the Franco regime in Spain. The following films will be shown: March 5: ¡Ay, Carmela! (1990) March 6: Mujeres al Borde de una Ataque de Nervios (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) (1988) March 7: Solas (Alone) (1999) Presented by College of the Redwoods’ Modern Languages Department and Humboldt State University’s Department of World Languages and Cultures.
6:00 pm-7:00 pm	Knot Tying Outdoor Skills Seminar HSU Recreation and Wellness Center Outdoor enthusiasts use an assortment of ropes and knots for outdoor skills. Many of these same knots can be useful for a variety of everyday uses, ranging from camping, climbing, sailing, loading vehicles, and more. This seminar will cover various knots including hitches, bends and loops. If you would like to have the mystery taken out of knot tying, this class is for you!
8:00 pm	African Children's Choir Van Duzer Theater With dramatic choreography, layered rhythms and gorgeous call-and-response vocals, a vibrant cast of young performers brings to life the sounds and movements of East Africa. The Choir is made up of some of the neediest and most vulnerable children in their countries, offering an opportunity to break away from the everyday cycle of poverty and hopelessness. From gospel and spiritual to traditional folk and contemporary sounds, this lively company of 24 boys and girls displays an inspirational triumph of spirit.
