12:00 pm-5:00 pm	Faculty and Staff Spring Blood Drive Outside of the Student Business Services (SBS) building The Northern California Community Blood Bank is partnering with HSU for a Spring Blood Drive. The BloodMobile will be parked outside of SBS on the first and third Monday of the month from noon to 5 p.m. to accept donations from HSU faculty and staff. Donating blood takes about an hour and is safe, (nearly) painless, and one donation can provide blood for three patients in need. Our community depends on regular donations, so please sign up today. 5:00 pm-6:30 pm	Geology Colloquium HSU Campus "Stromatolites Even John Longshore Would Love!" presented by Russell Shapiro, of the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences at CSU Chico. Like the proverbial tree in the forest, a fossil isn’t a fossil when we can no longer recognize it as such. This is an important question when one is addressing the data for the oldest fossils on Earth or potentially, a fossil record from elsewhere in the solar system. This presentation will address the mineralogical changes of ancient bacterial stromatolites that have been subjected to contact metamorphism and intense strain associated with tectonic collision belts.
