Women's Introduction to Surfing

HSU Center Activities
Calling all female adventurers! Join Center Activities on Saturday, March 30th for a day of surfing on the beautiful North Coast. This course offers participants the opportunity to safely learn and enjoy the sport of surfing! Designed for the individual having little or no surfing experience, we will focus on water safety, surf etiquette, ocean awareness, surfboard handling and technique. We will surf where the conditions are best for beginning surfers. Transportation will be by carpool.

As part of the Pan-Asian Pacific Islander Perspectives festival, A.P.A.S.A. presents a Tai Chi Demonstration and Lesson (Yang-style short form) by students in the beginning Tai Chi Class (PE 140) of Professor Chip Sharpe.

Hmong Dance and Cultural Event

HSU Campus

The HSU Hmong American Association, and the Eureka High School and College of the Redwoods Hmong clubs come together to perform traditional dances and share Hmong culture and history.

Seeking Fungi Where None Have Sought Before

Dr. Henkel has pioneered the study of fungal biodiversity in the tropical rainforests of South America’s Guiana Shield, a remote and poorly studied region of the world. He will review two decades of field work in the relentless search for elusive, undiscovered fungi.

Music: Silk Road Junction 101

HSU Campus
Tinku Rahman and Sarah McClimon perform traditional music on Abdur South Asian tabla drums and Japanese koto. They draw on their experiences living in Bangladesh, India, Japan, Hawaii and California to explore the rhythms and melodies of Asia and the United States.
