3:00 pm-5:30 pm	Environmental Education Resource Fair HSU Natural History Museum If you're an educator, come to the Environmental Education Resource Fair for a chance to connect with local organizations to improve the environmental literacy of your students. Learn about field trip and service learning opportunities, in-class presentations and curricular resources. HSU students interested in environmental education are also encouraged to attend. Representatives will include the Redwood National and State Parks, California State Parks, the Schatz Energy Research Center, Friends of the Dunes, the Bureau of Land Management’s Headwaters Forest Reserve, the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Friends of the Arcata Marsh.
5:00 pm	Partnering with Physicians for Better Care Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center e-Patient Dave is the keynote speaker at an Aligning Forces Humboldt community dinner to talk to patients about how partnering with physicians can lead to better care. Cancer survivor Dave deBronkart, widely known as “e-Patient Dave,” is an international speaker on health care and has one of the most watched TEDx talks, “Let Patients Help.” e-Patient Dave will be addressing Humboldt County community members in a presentation on patient empowerment. After e-Patient Dave’s presentation, the Alliance will host a panel discussion with local patients and a physician, followed by a question and answer session with the audience. Aligning Forces Humboldt is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Aligning Forces for Quality community, a national effort to improve the quality and value of health care in communities across America. 7:00 pm-Feb 28th 8:00 pm	Foundation Training Drop-In Group Fitness HSU Recreation and Wellness Center Foundation Training is an adaptive training tool focusing on strengthening important muscle chains with its primary focus on the lower back. Foundation uses a body weight exercise system to reinforce proper movement patterns allowing large groups or chains of muscles to work together. Our current lifestyles cause us to sit more; leaving important muscle groups inactive. Proper movement can help us eliminate pain and prevent physical breakdown. Using a braced spine and hip hinge is the foundation of proper movement. We will learn a variety of moves and postures designed to increase strength and flexibility. Ideal for athletes, chronic pain sufferers or those looking for a new exercise routine.
