ZMF 2013 Concert Series: “Expressive Complexity”

Description:

Zeltsman Marimba Festival Faculty concert featuring Pedro Carneiro (Portugal) & Mike Truesdell (New York) with Beverley Johnston (Canada). Music of Toru Takemitsu, Philippe Manoury, João Pedro Oliveira, Steven Snowden, Joseph Pereira & more. This program is an opportunity to experience the voices of contemporary composers in recent works for marimba and vibraphone—as well as some older, landmark compositions—performed by virtuoso artists.

This concert is presented as part of the Zeltsman Marimba Festival 2013 Concert Series: eight programs of marimba music featuring some of the world’s top keyboard percussion artists in Arcata, California. The annual marimba festival takes place in a different location each year. This summer’s festival, based at Humboldt State University, brings together faculty and participants from 13 states and 10 countries to perform and collaborate.
