Dr. Heather Eisthen, of Michigan State, presents, "Tainted Love: Olfactory detection of tetrodotoxin in rough-skinned newts."
Dr. Eisthen's research focuses on the olfactory system and behavior in amphibians. Current studies involve axolotls, Ambystoma mexicanum, and rough skinnned newts, Taricha granulosa. Dr. Eisthen uses a combination of techniques and approaches, including behavioral observation, electrophysiology, neuroanatomy, molecular biology, and developmental manipulation.
