Social Justice Summit

Time: All day-Saturday, March 2nd

Description:

The MultiCultural Center's 19th annual Summit will be held March 1st and 2nd on HSU's campus. The Summit is a 2-day event featuring workshops and keynotes.

Activist and filmmaker Aurora Guerrero kicks-off the event March 1 with her film "Mosquita y Mari," a coming of age story of two Chicanas as they struggle to balance their friendship with life's obligations. An official selection of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

Events on March 2 begin at 9 a.m. in the Kate Buchanan Room. Workshops will take place throughout the day across campus. Guest presenters include Dreamers Adrift and Educators for Fair Consideration.

What is Social Justice? Social Justice is about educating ourselves and others and taking action to change the status quo. Social Justice is about giving voice to communities who have been forced into silence; social justice is about equality and equal access. What is your definition of social justice?
