Come to an informational meeting on the Belize Archaeology Field School.
The school involves survey and excavation at several Mayan sites as well as laboratory experience working directly with excavated Mayan artifacts. Field techniques, lectures on Mayan culture and history and instruction concerning artifact analysis will be provided.
The following courses are offered for the summer session:
ANTH 306: 3 units. Cultures of Belize: We will examine the issues of culture shock, stereotyping, misconceptions and misunderstandings, ethnocentrism and intercultural communication.
ANTH 357: 3 units. Field Archaeology: The principal focus of this course will be instruction in the basic field techniques required both in the field, cultural resource management and in more strict research settings.
