DESCRIPTION:This weekly group lesson will go beyond basic instruction in g
 uitar, offering participants the opportunity to learn and understand the 
 language of music theory. The proven techniques from G.I.T. will assist y
 ou in learning to hear, to play, and to enjoy music with an understanding
  of how music theory works. Skills to be covered include: developing fing
 er independence, scale steps, keys, notes on the fret board, and a workin
 g knowledge of the common language used in music. So whether you have som
 e experience and need to develop confidence, or are a beginner ready for 
 a positive learning experience in music, this class will be invaluable. E
 ach individual will be evaluated the first night to determine the best le
 vel of instruction and will receive more information about the content of
  the class, including where to rent instruments if you do not own one.

DESCRIPTION:Handspindles have been used to spin yarn for thousands of year
 s. Join the ranks of our ancestors and learn to spin and ply yarn on a ha
 ndspindle, then transfer your newly learned skills to a spinning wheel. L
 earn about the many yarn variations and types of projects a particular st
 yle can best be used for. As knowledge about fibers is essential, samples
  of wool, silk, quivet, plus more fibers from 5 continents will be introd
 uced, handled and discussed while wool from Humboldt County's Fibershed w
 ill be featured for spinning. Textiles are an integral part of our past, 
 present and future. Storytelling about humankind's 20,000 year history of
  discoveries and use of fibers and spinning developments will be woven th
 roughout the content of the class. This class is designed for beginners w
 ho have never spun yarn and will be valuable to handspinners wanting to b
 uild their knowledge and skills.

SUMMARY:Emergency Medical Technician Certification
DESCRIPTION:The EMT-1 program is designed to meet the requirements of the 
 California Emergency Medical Services Authority which includes a minimum 
 of 150 hours of classroom instruction and lab, and 10 hours of field trai
 ning. The course includes observation in an emergency room and an ambulan
 ce ride-along for all students. This program will train students to ident
 ify emergency situations that require immediate action, initiate effectiv
 e emergency care measures, and to understand the medical and legal implic
 ations of their actions. The EMT-1 program is not limited to those who wi
 sh to work in the pre-hospital medicine field but recommended for all tho
 se who wish to be more prepared for family and workplace emergencies.

DESCRIPTION:Foundation Training is an adaptive training tool focusing on s
 trengthening important muscle chains with its primary focus on the lower 
 back. Foundation uses a body weight exercise system to reinforce proper m
 ovement patterns allowing large groups or chains of muscles to work toget
 her.\n\nOur current lifestyles cause us to sit more; leaving important mu
 scle groups inactive. Proper movement can help us eliminate pain and prev
