SUMMARY:Escrima
DESCRIPTION:Escrima is a comprehensive Filipino martial art covering weapo
n and empty hand applications. In the beginning stages, training primaril
y involves use of a single stick, through which the student learns princi
ples and body mechanics applicable to other weapons (double sticks, short
stick, staff, etc.) and empty hand applications. Unlike most other marti
al arts which focus on technique, Escrima focuses on body mechanics and c
oncepts. The five basic concepts of Escrima are power, speed/distance/tim
ing, focus (mental and physical), transition and balance. Once a student
has a basic technical background and can understand and apply the five co
ncepts, they are able to use any weapon with some degree of proficiency.
All of the weapon movements may also be done as empty hand applications.

SUMMARY:Foundation Training Drop-In Group Fitness
DESCRIPTION:Foundation Training is an adaptive training tool focusing on s
trengthening important muscle chains with its primary focus on the lower
back. Foundation uses a body weight exercise system to reinforce proper m
ovement patterns allowing large groups or chains of muscles to work toget
her.\n\nOur current lifestyles cause us to sit more; leaving important mu
scle groups inactive. Proper movement can help us eliminate pain and prev
ent physical breakdown. Using a braced spine and hip hinge is the foundat
ion of proper movement. We will learn a variety of moves and postures des
igned to increase strength and flexibility. Ideal for athletes, chronic p
ain sufferers or those looking for a new exercise routine.
