Science on Tap: Stem Cell Research

Blondie's Food & Drink
Helping the crippled walk and the blind see are two recent advances in regenerative medicine, the emerging field of stem cell based medical treatments. What are stem cells? What kinds of stem cells are there and where do they come from? What can they do for us?

Join Dr. Amy Sprowles of Humboldt State University's Department of Biological Sciences as she leads a discussion on these issues and more during the monthly Science on Tap cafe.

Science Cafes are national and international outreach programs that foster scientific discussion in informal, public settings.

Blues Harmonica Blowout

Van Duzer Theater
A must-see performance for lovers of the blues and the harmonica, this all-star lineup hits the road with some of the biggest names in recent harp history: ringleader Mark Hummel, Charlie Musselwhite, Billy Boy Arnold, Curtis Salgado, and Sugar Ray Norcia, all backed by the road-tested veterans The Blues Survivors. Packing as much musical punch as possible into one full-throttle evening, the show offers a special tribute to Little Walter, one of the genre’s giants. Experience the power, range and purity of the “mouth harp,” an instrument virtually synonymous with the blues.
