Biological Sciences Seminar Series

HSU Campus
Dr. Susan Harrison of UC Davis presents, "Ecological effects of climate change in the Siskiyous: Lessons from re-sampling Robert Whittaker’s 1949-1951 study plots". The major theme in Dr. Harrison's research is understanding the processes that shape and maintain plant species diversity at the landscape scale.

Dr. Harrison is currently resampling the vegetation transects that Robert Whittaker studied in the Siskiyou Mountains of southern Oregon in 1949-51. The goal is to look for evidence of climate change and determine whether serpentine vegetation has undergone different changes than 'normal' vegetation on diorite soils.
