 ew ways of viewing rhythm and tonality. Through a demonstration of Asian 
 and Balkan music and dance, Kurumada will provide the audience with tools
  to \nexpand their appreciation of the ways humans make music. No backgro
 und in music theory or dance ability is necessary.\n\nCraig Kurumada earn
 ed his BA in Linguistics from the University of Utah. He has studied and 
 performed Balkan music for 25 years and is a member of the international 
 folk band, Chubritza.

  greatest living poets.\n \nMs. Hirshfield's honors included fellowships 
 from the Guggenheim and Rockefeller Foundations, the National Endowment f
 or the Arts, and the Academy of American Poets.  Her poems have appeared 
 in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and The Nation magazines, among others.

 campus? HSU’s Holiday Food Drive is taking place through Thursday, Dec.
  6th!  \n\nAll donations collected on campus will be given to the Humbold
 t County Food Bank Food for People, for distribution to over 10,000 low i
 ncome children, families, people with disabilities, and seniors a month.\
 n\nThis year, we are encouraging clubs, student organizations, university
  departments, faculty and staff to participate in the HSU Hunger Fighter 
 Challenge. One winning club/student organization and one winning departme
 nt with the most donations will be invited to celebrate with a spaghetti 
 dinner next semester. Each winning team may select 4-6 members to attend 
 the meal. To enter the Hunger Fighter Challenge, place food donations in 
 a strong bag and attach a note with the name of your club and contact inf

SUMMARY:Works by the Giant Squid: A Print Makers Collective
DESCRIPTION:Humboldt State University’s First Street Gallery presents Wo
 rks by the Giant Squid: A Print Makers Collective featuring affordable wo
 rks of art for the Holiday Season. The exhibition, which is produced by s
 tudents in HSU’s Museum and Gallery Practices Program, runs Nov. 27 to 
 Dec. 23.\n\nThis exhibition consists of a wide variety of mediums such as
  woodcuts, etching, engravings, lithographs and serigraphy, all covering 
 a broad array of subjects. Many of contributing artists are students and 
 alumni of Professor Sarah Whorf’s Printmaking classes at Humboldt State
  University.\n\nBased in Eureka, California, Giant Squid formed as an art
 ists collective earlier this year in an effort to pool and share the tech
 nical resources necessary to make fine art prints. This show is their deb
 ut exhibition as a collective. The artists included in the show are Cryst
 al Azul, Isaac Bluefoot, Brittany Britton, Tim Camp, Tim Clewell, Kristy 
 Eden, Rhianna Gallagher, Max Garcia, Jorden Goodspeed, Jeff Jensen, Ruth 
 Jensen, Sam Kirby, Justin Skillstad, Crystal Thorpe and Sarah Whorf.\n\nA
 n opening reception in honor of the artists will be held at HSU First Str
 eet Gallery on Saturday, December 1st, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The exhibit
 ion will run from November 27th – December 23rd, 2009. The gallery is o
 pen Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 5:00 p.m., and is located at 422 Firs
 t Street, Eureka, California. Admission is free and those planning group

DESCRIPTION:This challenging course is designed to provide outdoor leaders
 , instructors, guides, rangers and travelers with the knowledge needed to
  deal with emergencies in remote settings. It is an 80-hour curriculum th
 at meets national standards for both urban and extended care situations. 
 Special topics include but are note limited to: wilderness wound manageme
 nt and infection, realigning fractures and dislocations, improvised splin
 ting techniques, patient monitoring and long-term management problems, up
 -to-date information on all environmental emergencies, plus advice on dru
