The HSU Dept. of Theatre, Film & Dance presents a new adaptation of the magical love story from India, Shakuntala, a family-friendly holiday show in Gist Hall Theatre on the HSU campus in Arcata for two weekends: November 29-December 1, and December 6-8 at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9. , from the HSU Box Office (826-3928) or at the door.

The adaptation of this Sanskrit classic is by HSU professor and playwright Margaret Thomas Kelso who describes it as a “very sweet fairy tale--with the usual ominous complications-- that everyone can enjoy, including children.”

With a premiere adaptation, original music by HSU Music professor Brian Post, and directed by HSU professor Rae Robison, this is a unique production of a popular favorite in India seldom seen anywhere in the U.S.

Madrigals & Mad River Transit Singers

Fulkerson Recital Hall
Annual Madrigal Singers holiday celebration with singers in Renaissance costume performing madrigals and 16th century songs, followed by Mad River Transit jazz singers and rhythm section performing tunes including “Spontaneous Human Combustion,” “Georgia On My Mind” and the Sesame Street song. Directed by Harley Muilenburg.
