DESCRIPTION:Always dreamed of flying for fun, as a career, or are you just
  interested in aviation? Here is your opportunity to take the first step.
  The Private Pilot Ground School class will provide you with the knowledg
 e and skills necessary to pass the Federal Aviation Administration writte
 n examination for a Private Pilot certificate. This is a beginner's class
  and no prior knowledge or skill is required.\n\nThe class will cover aer
 odynamics, instruments, navigation communications, weather, performance c
 harts, flight operations and other subjects required by the FAA as a foun
 dation for all aspiring pilots. Books and materials will be discussed and
  may be purchased at the first class meeting. Please bring a highlighter

SUMMARY:Works by the Giant Squid: A Print Makers Collective
DESCRIPTION:Humboldt State University’s First Street Gallery presents Wo
 rks by the Giant Squid: A Print Makers Collective featuring affordable wo
 rks of art for the Holiday Season. The exhibition, which is produced by s
 tudents in HSU’s Museum and Gallery Practices Program, runs Nov. 27 to 
 Dec. 23.\n\nThis exhibition consists of a wide variety of mediums such as
  woodcuts, etching, engravings, lithographs and serigraphy, all covering 
 a broad array of subjects. Many of contributing artists are students and 
 alumni of Professor Sarah Whorf’s Printmaking classes at Humboldt State
  University.\n\nBased in Eureka, California, Giant Squid formed as an art
 ists collective earlier this year in an effort to pool and share the tech
 nical resources necessary to make fine art prints. This show is their deb
 ut exhibition as a collective. The artists included in the show are Cryst
 al Azul, Isaac Bluefoot, Brittany Britton, Tim Camp, Tim Clewell, Kristy 
 Eden, Rhianna Gallagher, Max Garcia, Jorden Goodspeed, Jeff Jensen, Ruth 
 Jensen, Sam Kirby, Justin Skillstad, Crystal Thorpe and Sarah Whorf.\n\nA
 n opening reception in honor of the artists will be held at HSU First Str
 eet Gallery on Saturday, December 1st, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The exhibit
 ion will run from November 27th – December 23rd, 2009. The gallery is o
 pen Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 5:00 p.m., and is located at 422 Firs
 t Street, Eureka, California. Admission is free and those planning group 
 tours are encouraged to call ahead at 707-443-6363.
