"Precious Knowledge: Revolutionary Education"

Goodwin Forum
As part of the HSU Campus Dialogue on Race, this film screening and panel discussion of the documentary, “Precious Knowledge: Revolutionary Education," focuses on the attack on ethnic studies and reclaiming our right to education.

The film documents the struggle to preserve the hard-earned gains of the Chicano civil rights movement. In Arizona, in the face of anti-immigrant politics and neo-nativist chauvinism, high school students are rising up and demanding their rights to education. The documentary tells the story of Mexican-American students rising up and demanding that their education require critical thinking, ask hard and difficult questions of their nation, be culturally relevant, and provide pathways to academic success beyond high school.

A panel discussion will follow with Barbara Curiel, English and CRGS, Juan Avalos, North Coast Children's Services Head Start and LatinoNet, and Ron Mize, Socioogy.
