This challenging course is designed to provide outdoor leaders, instructors, guides, rangers and travelers with the knowledge needed to deal with emergencies in remote settings. It is an 80-hour curriculum that meets national standards for both urban and extended care situations. Special topics include but are note limited to: wilderness wound management and infection, realigning fractures and dislocations, improvised splinting techniques, patient monitoring and long-term management problems, up-to-date information on all environmental emergencies, plus advice on drug therapies. Please contact HSU Center Activities or the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) for more course information!
Additional Public Info: The training will be conducted by the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS. Advance registration is required. Registration deadline in December 7th. Registration after this date is possible if there is still space available. We need a minimum of 15 people to commit to the WMI a full month before the course. A 50% deposit is required. Please contact HSU Center Activities to register today!
