Applications for 2013-2014 can be downloaded here.
Elementary Education credential candidates must pass all parts of the following tests by July 1st of the year they submit applications to the program:
Meet the Basic Skills Requirement. The Commission on Teacher Credentialing offers the following options:
If you are interested in meeting the Basic Skills Requirement by EAP or ELM/EPT, please contact Bryn Coriell, Program Coordinator, before the application deadline for advising - 707-826-5108. We strongly recommend passing either the CBEST or CSET: Writing Skills Test instead of using the placement test score option. You must complete one of the above options in full &em; you may not mix and match pieces from different options.
Pass the CSET (California Subject Examination for Teachers) for multiple subjects administered alternate months for the CBEST. Please be advised that not all CSET exam subjects will be offered on every test date, so it is wise to plan and register in advance.
If you’d like some help preparing for the CSET, we offer test prep workshops here at HSU Click here for details and dates.
To be recommended to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for a Multiple Subjects Credential, candidates must also pass the RICA (Reading Instruction Competence Assessment) administered in February, April, June, August, and October. This exam can be taken before or during the credential year. A RICA preparation workshop is offered on the Saturday of the weekend before the April test date; for information, contact Dr. Larry Rice.
