Dr. Honda is cur­rently the Direc­tor Office of Insti­tu­tional Research & Plan­ning and holds the posi­tion of AVP for Reten­tion & Inclu­sive Stu­dent Suc­cess at Hum­boldt State Uni­ver­sity. She leads HSU’s efforts to improve inclu­sive stu­dent suc­cess and is over­see­ing a restruc­tur­ing of co-curricular and aca­d­e­mic sup­port units such as the Learn­ing Cen­ter, Career and Advis­ing, EOP, the Mul­ti­cul­tural Cen­ter, Native Amer­i­can sup­port pro­grams, fresh­men men­tor­ing and imple­men­ta­tion of the new early alert sys­tem together to bet­ter serve HSU students.

Dr. Honda holds a bach­e­lor degree in Japan­ese Stud­ies from the State Uni­ver­sity of New York, a Master’s in Asian Pacific Lib­eral Arts from the Uni­ver­sity of San Fran­cisco, a Master’s in Demo­graph­ics and Social Analy­sis from the Uni­ver­sity of Cal­i­for­nia Irvine and a Doc­tor­ate of Edu­ca­tion from the Uni­ver­sity of Cal­i­for­nia Los Ange­les. Dr. Honda has an exten­sive back­ground in insti­tu­tional research and as a fac­ulty mem­ber. She has expe­ri­ence work­ing in the Cal­i­for­nia Com­mu­nity Col­lege, Cal­i­for­nia State Uni­ver­sity, and the Uni­ver­sity of Cal­i­for­nia sys­tems. She has taught at both at the Uni­ver­sity of Hawaii, Manoa and at Hum­boldt State.

Dr. Honda cur­rently serves on the Board of Direc­tors for the Cal­i­for­nia Asso­ci­a­tion Insti­tu­tional Research and has been nom­i­nated for the Board of Direc­tors for the Asso­ci­a­tion of Insti­tu­tional Research.
