Hum­boldt Music Academy

Music classes for ages 2 through 18 include Suzuki method classes, classes in singing, musi­cal the­ater, fid­dle play­ing, world folk music, bucket drum­ming and more. The Stu­dio School

A dis­tinc­tive visual arts pro­gram for youth ages 5–13. Stu­dents cre­ate art with gen­uine artist’s mate­ri­als in an authen­tic stu­dio envi­ron­ment, get­ting access to col­lec­tions and exhi­bi­tions at HSU Reese Bullen Gallery and the Mor­ris Graves Museum of Art. Sequoia Cham­ber Music Workshop

The Sequoia Cham­ber Music Work­shop is a unique oppor­tu­nity each sum­mer for young musi­cians to study and per­form at least four dif­fer­ent works with four dif­fer­ent cham­ber groups over the course of each six-day ses­sion. LEARN MORE

Young Writ­ers’ Academy

Stu­dents of any writ­ing abil­ity who will be in grades four through nine in fall are wel­come to exper­i­ment with and hone their writ­ing skills in a sup­port­ive envi­ron­ment. Kids will explore a vari­ety of styles, become more con­fi­dent as writ­ers, and improve their own writ­ing by exam­in­ing the work of other writ­ers. This is a Red­wood Writ­ing Project pro­gram offered in the sum­mer. LEARN MORE

Calif. State Sum­mer School for the Arts (CSSSA)

A Cal­i­for­nia State sum­mer arts school for young peo­ple in grades 8 through 12. It is a rig­or­ous, pre­pro­fes­sional, month-long sum­mer train­ing pro­gram in the visual and per­form­ing arts, cre­ative writ­ing, ani­ma­tion and film for tal­ented artists of high school age. InnerSpark pro­vides a sup­port­ive envi­ron­ment in which stu­dents hone acquired skills and explore new tech­niques and ideas for an intense and excit­ing learn­ing expe­ri­ence. Courses are offered in ani­ma­tion, cre­ative writ­ing, dance, film/video, music, the­ater and visual arts. Col­lege credit is avail­able. LEARN MORE
