Student Association of Fire Ecologists
About the Club
S.A.F.E. is a branch off of A.F.E. which stands for the Association of Fire Ecologists. Basically what we are is a group of students who have an interest in fire. There are members of our group who are studying fire and others who are not, so it’s open to anybody, and any class level,we have Graduate students and Undergraduate students who are members. Basically what we are striving for as club is to learn as much as we can about fire. We plan to achieve this goal by attending talks or seminars that are related to fire, participating in hands on field events, such as prescribed burns, getting members certified to be Type II firefighters, and by trying to get as many people as possible to attend the annual International Fire Ecology and Management Congress. However to attend and participate in such events we have to do lots of fund raising and seeking of donations, so be ready. If you are studying fire or plan on working one day in a fire related field being a part of this club will give some good experience, knowledge, and will look great on a resume.
