Humboldt State University Amateur Radio Society
The purpose of the Humboldt State Amateur Radio Society is to further the exchange of information, develop a co-operation between members and to promote radio knowledge; creating a network of individuals who in the event of a natural disaster would be able to help in the public safety communication efforts within the campus community and community abroad. The purpose is also to help improve communication skills, individual operating efficiency, and radio knowledge by conducting society programs and activities as to advance the general interest and prosperity of amateur radio in the university community.
About the Club
We are focused on the hobby/service of amateur radio and everything surrounding it. If you have an interest in this please come and by and see what we’re up to!
Anyone within the HSU community interested in shortwave radios, emergency services, and contacting people around the world (among other things) are more than welcome to drop by at any meeting and see what we’re up to. Or feel free to drop us a line at our e-mail address and get on our mailing list to be aware of upcoming meetings and/or events. While listening to amateur radio is open to everyone, broadcasting is limited to those that have an amateur radio license. If you don’t have a license (many in the club don’t) we’ll help you get one. It’s easier than you think.
