AFS Fisheries Club
The AFS Fisheries Club is all about enjoying the art of fishing in the beautiful county we call Humboldt. We are about keeping our beaches and rivers free of debris as well as meeting with other students in our major. We accept any student who is a Fisheries Major, enjoys fishing or even wants to learn how to fish!
About the Club
We plan fishing trips, attend national AFS Conferences and organize beach and river cleanups.
Membership Qualifications
To be a club member you must be a member of the American Fisheries Society. Club membership is $19 and forms can be found on the Fisheries Department Bulletin Board on the 2nd floor of the WFB building, or they can be printed off at American Fisheries Society.
How to Join
If you would like to join our club you are welcome to show up to one of our meetings. We meet every other Thursday at 6 pm in WFB 258. Our exact meeting days are posted on the Fisheries Bulletin board on the second floor of the Wildlife and Fisheris Building.
Chi Phi Fraternity
Chi Phi is the oldest national fraternity, founded on December 24, 1824 at Princeton University. It is an organization based on three core values: Truth, Honor, and Personal Integrity. After its humble beginnings, it spread rapidly across the East Coast and eventually, in 1875, the fraternity branched westward and established a Chapter at UC Berkeley. The Epsilon Zeta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity was colonized in 1985 on the third floor of Sunset Hall here at Humboldt State. Two years later it received its charter, officially becoming a chapter of the national fraternity.
While each member will bring something different to the group, there are certain expectations that all members must meet. As a member of a Chi Phi Chapter or Colony, you would be expected to contribute your time, your energy, and your actions to the overall cause of the organization. All members of our organization wear the same badge, and thus all members must contribute to the stability of the group. As a member of Chi Phi, you would be expected to attend weekly Chapter meetings, take up a position of responsibility as an officer, committee chairman or member, participate in at least one campus activity, and keep your GPA at or above the all men’s average.
Being a Chi Phi is also about being a gentleman. A truly chivalrous Fraternity, Chi Phi’s southern heritage instills an element of etiquette, demeanor, and proper social graces into our culture. Chi Phi has espoused those characteristics for almost two centuries and even today promotes such actions through their New Member educational programs, regular social activities with campus sororities, and even philanthropic work with the charities and within the community. Most importantly, however, one can see the chivalric nature of our Fraternity in the day-to-day actions of our members.
Very Important
There are also a few things you should not expect from joining The Chi Phi Fraternity. Hazing of any type is not tolerated within Chi Phi and all forms of substance abuse are vehemently prohibited. The highest degree of respect is afforded to all of those associated with Chi Phi. Chi Phi’s proactive nature and aggressive stances against degradation of any kind provides our members with greater opportunities for personal growth and development.

How to Join
At the start of each semester the Chi Phi Fraternity begins a recruitment process where we look for prospective new members. During these two weeks, the brothers of Chi Phi invite you to join us in various activities that will range from bowling and card games to camping and barbeques. As a prospective member of Chi Phi you will be introduced to our brothers, as well as members of other Greek organizations, and you will begin to learn what this organization stands for, what it represents, and what it means to be a Chi Phi.

Biology Graduate Student Association

BGSA helps arrange and fund the Biology Department’s seminar series featuring researchers from throughout the country. To raise funds, the BGSA operates a coffee table in the lobby of Science B featuring locally roasted organic coffee, juices, muffins, and bagels with several yummy toppings. The coffee table is open from 8:00 am to 11:00 am Monday through Friday. We also provide social activities such as pub nights, potlucks, bowling, etc. Faculty and students relax and interact at an annual potluck barbecue to greet the incoming class.

As of now there are no organized club meetings but the events forum through HSU’s website as well as a Facebook account will be used for posting who, when, where, etc. is going surfing. Hopefully we can increase carpooling, friendly informing of one another about proper surf etiquette, group activities and possibly surf trips, all for the good of each one of us who wants to maximize the benefits that our ocean has to offer.

Colleges Against Cancer
American Cancer Society’s Colleges Against Cancer is a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty, and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by initiating and supporting American Cancer Society programs in college communities.
About the Club
Our Colleges Against Cancer chapter supports the American Cancer Society’s mission by promoting activities in three main areas. Those areas include the Relay for Life, Cancer Control, and Advocacy.
Relay For Life. Our club participates in fundraisers to raise money for the Youth Relay for Life in Eureka, California. The event takes place in May every year. The exact date for 2010 will be posted at a later date. Anyone who wants to participate in the event can contact us for more information. Currently, we are selling See’s Candy Bars and are planning to do a family fundraiser night at Round Table Pizza in Arcata, Ca.
Cancer Control. Our club not only helps raise money for cancer research, we also educate our community about cancer awareness. Our three main focuses are: Breast cancer awareness; Anti-tobacco awareness; and Healthy living behaviors, including nutrition, physical activity, reproductive health, and sun safety. As an example, our club did a display in the Humboldt State Library showing the negative effects of tobacco and some healthy alternatives to smoking. We also help our campus by letting smokers around campus know where the designated smoking areas are located.
Advocacy. Our advocacy efforts increase awareness of American Cancer Society legislative priorities by maintaining current information on nationwide, statewide, and local advocacy initiatives and developing plans and projects suitable for our campus community.

We work with you (and your club/organization) and your time to accommodate your needs to provide service opportunities around the community that will be centered on your area of interest. The Service Learning interns will work closely with you so that we can provide you the resources necessary for you to participate and have a fulfilling service experience! In other words come to the Service Learning Center, tell us what you would like to do or participate in, we do all the middle work (contacting community partners, setting up date and location, etc), and then you show up to your service event/day! Mission Statement
As an organized club under Humboldt State University, our members are dedicated to ocean environments, both off our California coast and worldwide. Our mission includes doing what we can to help other state and national organizations, such as Reef Check, study and preserve the California coastline, focusing on our relatively unstudied North Coast. Keeping students involved in the scientific diving community and providing experiences that benefit them, as well as our coastline, is essential to our mission.
Our members are also involved in volunteer beach and underwater clean-up efforts here on the North Coast. Coastal conservation, community and diving awareness, as well as public education are all necessary in promoting safe and sustainable coastlines and central to our mission.
Every member is either NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) SCUBA certified or on their way to getting their certification. Certifications of our members span from the beginning NAUI Scuba Diver, Master Diver and Dive Master, to Rescue Divers and Dive Instructors. Many also have photographic and AAUS Scientific Diver certifications, as well as Reef Check Scientific Diver certifications.
The AAUS (American Academy of Underwater Sciences) provides standards for scientific diving certification and operation of scientific diving programs. A consensual guideline, this is currently the “Standard” of the scientific diving community. These standards are widely used throughout the United States and in many foreign countries. They represent the consensus of the scientific diving community and state-of-the-art technologies.
Reef Check gives volunteers worldwide a unique experience in taking an active role in conserving the world’s reefs. The EcoAction program allows individuals the rare opportunity to join teams of scientists and work first-hand to combat the crises affecting our reefs today. Reef Check California aims to build a network of informed and involved citizens who support the sustainable use and conservation of our nearshore marine resources. To accomplish this, volunteers are trained to carry out surveys of nearshore reefs providing data on the status of key indicator species.
Organized Club fundraisers help us accomplish our mission. The proceeds go directly to benefit the club; to pay for fundraising events, to organize and get students to ReefCheck survey sites, and pay for necessary dive surveying equipment. Additionally, twenty-percent of our fundraising goes directly to the HSU Scuba Diving Program, which is dedicated to providing broad-based support of sub-aquatic research, education, and recreational activities in three academic areas of emphasis. As a club, we would like to help the HSU Dive Program in the form of diving and surveying equipment, and funds to help keep the program alive. Many of our members feel the HSU Dive Program has changed their lives, opened new career doors, and is central to our local diving community.

Tennis On Campus
We started the tennis club because we wanted to start hitting with people who loved the game as much as we do. As you know, Humboldt doesn’t have tennis courts on campus so it can be fairly difficult to find someone to play with. Tennis on Campus strives to unite players to have played the game before or who even want to learn how to play. Tennis is an amazing sport that you can play at any age and still have fun. Get out and exercise the fun way! Diversify the people you hang out with and make amazing new friends through Tennis on Campus!

Democracy Unlimited of Humboldt County (DUHC) educates citizens about the illegitimate seizure of our authority to govern ourselves. We design and implement grassroots strategies that exercise democratic power over corporations and governments. We seek to create a truly democratic society by provoking a non-violent popular uprising against corporate rule in Humboldt County that can serve as a model for other communities across the United States. VOX: Students for Choice
VOX, is a student group present at colleges across the United States working to energize and mobilize the new generation of pro-choice Americans on the journey towards reproductive freedom. The VOX: Students for Choice group at HSU is supported by Six Rivers Planned Parenthood in Eureka and provides a positive voice for reproductive freedom on campus. We achieve this by holding events and tabling on campus to educate and inspire young adults to challenge cultural stereotypes and support reproductive health and a woman’s right to choose. We are also very active in political advocacy, with our most recent challenge being to ensure that comprehensive reproductive health care is included in Obama’s Health Care reform plan.

Students for Global Health
MISSION STATEMENT:
Students for Global Health is a service-based organization dedicated to fighting the growing health disparities both locally and internationally. We are focused on supplying humanitarian aide to resource-poor locations around the world, as well as utilizing our nursing skills to assist needy families within our own community.
About the Club
Internationally, we are currently focusing on providing supplies and funding to the Edward Ulzen Memorial Foundation in Ghana. Although at times we may support religious-based organizations in the fight for Global Health, we as a club have no religious affiliations, and all funding and care provided will reflect this. All donations of clothing will be shipped directly to the organizations or brought there by volunteers. All medical supplied donated will also be shipped directly or brought there via volunteers. All financial funding will be sent directly to the organization to be used exclusively for medical care, food, and shelter. Locally, we are volunteering with homeless families in Eureka, providing health related education, support, and assistance.

The Former Foster Youth Club is a place where former foster youth can gather to share resource information, and advocate for the needs of former foster youth attending Humboldt State University. We work with the nation wide Power Shift movement to support legislation for a sustainable future.

Last February we sent 5 students to Power Shift in Washington DC where we learned about current environmental issues, heard from keynote speakers such as the head of the EPA Lisa Jackson and the Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar. This semester we’re keeping the movement going by planning a teach-in to raise awareness on campus as well as sending as many students as we can to the regional Power Shift conference in Eugene, OR on November 6-8.

Seibukan Jujutsu Club
We are devoted to practicing the martial art of Seibukan Jujutsu. Seibukan is an art form which takes into account the needs of the modern day warrior. Practitioners will learn to protect them selves from one, or multiple, armed, or unarmed assailants. The physical component of Seibukan Jujutsu stems from techniques developed on the samurai battlefield in feudal Japan. These techniques have been updated to suit the modern day situation but they still remain very real and very effective. Practitioners work with the use and disarming of various weapons, we practice subduing attackers through joint manipulation, we learn to efficiently use our bodies through kicks and strikes and maintaining good posture and carriage, and we foster our self empowerment and self confidence through which we learn to resolve conflicts before they begin. The philosophical aspect of Seibukan Jujutsu is practiced through the use of Awareness, Assessment, and Appropriate Action, through which students will learn how to assert them selves peacefully and powerfully to resolve a conflict with minimal injury to the assailants while protecting themselves.
About the Club
Generally the sequence of classes are as follows:
1. Start the meeting by bowing to each other
2. Warm up with stretches
3. Drill our various strikes
4. Work on rolls and break falls
5. Work on the techniques in the kihon waza (our basic form that serves as the foundation for other techniques)
6. Work on other techniques as time permits
Seibukan Jujutsu is a powerful martial art solely based on his physical techniques. However, I believe that the more powerful aspect lies in the philosophy which I will try to impart as best I can during classes. My intention is not to teach students how to be fighters. I believe that compared to the person who wins a thousand fights, the one who never fights at all is the better warrior.
The president, Adam Channel, has been studying Seibukan Jujutsu for 7 years and currently holds a 1st degree blackbelt.

There are no prerequisites. Anyone can join, though to participate you must sign a release of liability form for the University. It is not necessary to be a student at HSU nor does it require any prior martial arts training. Just be polite and participate and we would be happy to have you.

Alcohol & Drug Policy:
Delta Phi Epsilon was established as a “dry” sorority. We do not associate our organization with any form of alcohol or drugs. All collegiate chapters and their individual members and guests must abide at all times by federal, state, and local laws, and any college and/or university rules and regulations. The illegal use, possession, sale or distribution of any controlled substance, including alcohol, at chapter functions shall be strictly prohibited.
No funds or dues of any chapter may be used to purchase alcohol. There may not be alcohol or drug use at any Delta Phi Epsilon sponsored event, nor shall sisters participate in such activities while wearing their Greek letters or anything bearing Delta Phi Epsilon’s name.
Hazing Policy:
Delta Phi Epsilon has a zero tolerance policy regarding hazing. Our chapter defines hazing as any act taken or situation created, that causes physical, emotional, mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule. Any action taken to intentionally hurt the individual, degrade them, or humiliate them will not be tolerated. We as a chapter take hazing extremely seriously. We strive to have high scholastic standards and recognize that school comes first. That’s why all active sisters must retain a minimum GPA requirement of a 2.25 to be considered in good academic standing. To hold a Leadership Team position sisters must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

The Religious Studies Club is chartered to enhance the learning, recreational, and social opportunities for Religious Studies Students in particular and for the HSU community in general.
About the Club
You have found the RS web site. As you can see, this is mostly introductory information. RS Club ‘work’ takes place in the Tuesday meetings and on the RS Club Moodle site. All members — both voting and non-voting — have full access to these sites. In addition to the RS Club Moodle site, the RS Club also has two other Moodle sites.
The two other RS Moodle sites are dedicated to language learning using content-sequenced language discussions. One site is for Latin; the other site is for Biblical Hebrew.
If you want to join one or both of the no-credit, no-cost, language discussion(s), you simply need to attend a meeting and to register. You do not need to be a member of the RS Club. Once registered, you can then participate in any on-going language discussion. Or, you may initiate a new language learning discussion.
Everyone in the HSU community has ‘read’ access to all the RS Club Moodle sites.
HSU Community access process: The portal to these sites is at http://learn.humboldt.edu. When you are in the Moodle log-in page — the portal — do not attempt to log-in to the system. The Humboldt Juggling Society seeks to bring people together to learn, teach and share knowledge about the many fields of Object Manipulation. The Juggling Society focuses on hosting the FREE Humboldt Juggling Festival every Spring, and often works closely with the Humboldt Circus to host fundraisers for the event. The 9th Annual Humboldt Juggling Festival will once again be a FREE event and take place March 19-22, 2009 at Humboldt State University. On Thursday and Friday it will be in Forbes Complex room 126. Saturday and Sunday we will take over the East Gym, also in Forbes Complex. Games, workshops and competitions will take place over the course of the weekend, and a Renegade Show will take place Friday night in the Native American Forum of the Behavioral and Social Sciences buildings.
Saturday night in the John Van Duzer Theater we will host “A Journey of Jugglery” featuring special guest performers Michael Karas, Matt Hall, Kevin Axtel and more! This show is a fundraiser for future Humboldt Juggling Festivals and will have a entry fee of about $10.00.

We work with you (and your club/organization) and your time to accommodate your needs to provide service opportunities around the community that will be centered on your area of interest. The Service Learning interns will work closely with you so that we can provide you the resources necessary for you to participate and have a fulfilling service experience! In other words come to the Service Learning Center, tell us what you would like to do or participate in, we do all the middle work (contacting community partners, setting up date and location, etc), and then you show up to your service event/day! It doesn’t get any easier than that!!

One World Community
The goal of this club is to provide support for non-profit organizations that address problems facing today’s world. This will be accomplished through many different avenues, including fund raising and community education. Anything is possible with a motivated group of people who are willing to work! An important characteristic of this club is that we get things done. There is always something in the works. If you truly want to make a difference, this is the club for you.
About the Club
One World Community has been very active on the HSU campus and in the surrounding community since its inception. In March, we played a large role in a fundraiser that brought in $1600 for a Kenyan NGO called UONGOZI. Also during the spring semester, OWC conducted book/school supply drives on campus and at Zane Middle School. The gathered materials are to be donated to UONGOZI as well.
In May, OWC was approved for a grant to fund the travel of an inspiring community leader from rural Kenya, Eddie Mwanzia, who is the executive director of UONGOZI. Eddie will be leading a workshop focusing on community development issues, and he will be the keynote speaker in November for Spotlight on Africa, an event that will be put on by OWC. The event will also feature multiple African Dance performances organized by Deborah Ketelsen, a member of the HSU Dance faculty. The event will be a celebration of the rich and diverse culture of the African peoples, as well as an opportunity to bring to light some of the issues currently facing the continent, specifically Kenya.
Also in the fall semester, OWC will be sending some of its members to participate in EcoNvergence, a conference in Portland, OR that is intended to address the current global economic and environmental crises. The conference will take place on October 2-4 and will be a great opportunity to show the commitment of HSU students to addressing these issues. It will also be a valuable learning experience for those attending. In turn, the participants will return with information and partnerships that will benefit the entire HSU community.
So far, OWC has been working to support UONGOZI, but the organization is not limited to a single partnership. As previously stated, we wish to support organizations worldwide that share our vision and objectives. We believe that through forming multiple meaningful partnerships, we may have a positive impact on important issues domestically and globally.

The International Cultural Festival is an annual event that has shared and celebrated international cultures represented on HSU campus and community for more than twenty years.
The festival is for you to feel and share the cultural diversity of the campus and community. You can sample traditional foods, see displays of cultural items from all over the world, and make friends with people with international backgrounds! Listen to world music, enjoy dance performances, and get thrilled by martial arts demonstrations!
International Cultural Festival 2009 is a Zero-Waste Event. We will be composting all compostable left-over food and using reusable and compostable plates and utensils.

Northwest Primate Conservation Society
The goal of the Northwest Primate Conservation Society is to promote the conservation of non-human primates and their habitat through education, awareness, and fundraising efforts. Our club is incredibly active, and are hosting a Primate Conservation Speaker Series this year. We also collect cell phones in order to reduce the amount of coltan used in their production. These are then sent to the Dianne Fossey Gorilla Fund for recycling. The students inolved this year are particularly interested in saving the last 700 mountain gorillas, and we send money to Wildlife Direct in order to support the forest rangers in the Congo who work to protect these amazing creatures. Last summer our club participated in Semillas Del Futuro, a non-profit organization co-developed by Katharine Fountain, which supports Costa Rican high school students in conservation training and reforestation efforts. Nine HSU students last summer planted 130 trees at a high school in Palmitas, Costa Rica, and built a tree nursery.

Ballet Folklórico de Humboldt
The Ballet Folklórico de Humboldt is a student club whose purpose is to learn, promote and demonstrate traditional Mexican folkloric dance.
About the Club
The Ballet Folklórico welcomes all HSU students and community members alike. No partner or previous dance experience is necessary! We will teach you dances from different states and regions of Mexico. From Caribbean flavors of the Yucatán peninsula to Norteño polkas, from the flowing skirts of Jalisco to sparking machetes of Nayarít, you will have the opportunity to learn the varied dance styles, costumes and customs of México!

Youth Educational Services began in 1968 in the age of student activism and empowerment. Its mission then and now is to provide free services to a broad spectrum of local residents, ranging from youth to elderly. Y.E.S. offers you the opportunity to make a difference in this community as a volunteer of one or our 14 different programs. Our programs were all created by students who identified a particular need in the community that was not being met. Your commitment could be as little as a few hours during the year or could involve two or more hours per week with a specific focus. It is also a great way to make new friends and even work toward career goals.

Our Goals:
First, to create a social network for divers and marine enthusiasts in the HSU student body to dive and learn about diving, exchange ideas. Participation in the university and the community is key.
Second, to contribute to conserving and preserving our water resources locally and worldwide by participating in monitoring programs such as Reef Check, participation in activities aimed at educating our members and the public about appreciating protecting our oceans, especially through diving, and other volunteer programs that aim to accomplish this goal.
Third, to support and promote the HSU Dive program. HSU Dive Club represents a a portion of the student body that has vested interest in the success and longevity of the Diving Minor and the SCUBA Program that bears it. We will not only support this interest in club events and affairs, but each semester, twenty percent of the club’s fund raising is donated directly to the program to pay for equipment and supplies to support the program.

Newman Center: Catholic Student Group
The HSU Newman Center is – a University place where Christian fellowship and Catholic worship are celebrated; We, the members of the HSU Newman Center, are here to serve and encourage to service the students, faculty, staff, and local community of Humboldt State University. In addition to weekly worship, prayer opportunities, and a program of events, the center provides a warm environment where students, faculty and staff may study, talk, visit with friends, or just get away from the pressures of the residence halls, classrooms and other gathering places of our campus.
The HSU Newman Center has been part of the HSU community since 1972.
The Newman Center is a registered student organization which participates fully in the life of the University and a functioning Catholic community which provides all the services of a traditional Catholic parish for members of the university community and others who choose to be a part of our primary mission“to be the presence of Christ on the Humboldt State University Campus.”

We meet every Friday at the Newman Center for Mass at 65:30, followed by student made dinner and games, movies, whatever we feel like doing!
Every fourth Friday, Holy Hour, 5:30 to 6:30, in the Newman Center Chapel.

Cellular/Molecular Biology Club
We discuss current topics in cellular/molecular biology, learn about career development in related fields, and conduct a science outreach program to local high-school students.
About the Club
Recent events include a tour and demonstration of the Electron Microscopy facilities at HSU, a faculty presentation on stem cell lab training coming to HSU, and a fundraising lunch program (Curry Feed) to support club activities. Next semester we will train each other how to teach the “CSI: Arcata” DNA fingerprinting class to local high school students and host a public lecture by Gordon Lithgow, PhD of the Buck Institute for Aging. Other activities may include a biotech fieldtrip to the Bay Area or even a club research project. Please come to our meetings to suggest other activities and volunteer to run them. We like new people even if we’re kind of shy, and there’s generally food at meetings.

Fencing Club
The Fencing Club was first established at Humboldt State University in 1955, making it one of the oldest clubs on campus. Since its inception, it has been organized as a non-profit for the betterment of its members. Currently, we fundraise to travel (as far as New York City), organize club parties, buy new practice equipment, buy club apparel and provide pizza for movie nights. We spend our money, however, on fun events so that our practice times are focused on training. Our instructor, Antone Blair, teaches a classical style of fencing not taught many other places in the united states, not to mention the west coast. We teach French and Italian foil, Italian and Spanish rapier, French smallsword, epee, sabre, spanish folding knife, and longsword. The fencing club is a great opportunity to get to know students from many disciplines while learning a rare and historical art.

Absolutely no previous fencing experience is required, nor is any equipment required: Our club armoury has foils, epees, rapiers, jackets, masks, gloves, underarm protectors and anything else one would need free of charge. However, to participate, one must be enrolled in PE 325, a two unit course listed under physical education. As an intercollegiate sport club, the university requires all participants to have their own primary health insurance. The university then covers each participant under an additional insurance umbrella which only costs $16 to cover up to one million dollars in medical costs. That being said, we have never had an accident in the salle or any need for medical attention.
How to Join
To join the fencing club, simply enroll in PE325 during your next registration. After that, attend the practice times and begin your training!

CCAT is a demonstrational living home for sustainable technology. We are student run and student funded with 3 resident co-directors and a handful of employees. CCAT’s mission is to research and demonstrate techniques for living lightly on the earth. Volunteers and community support are core to CCAT’s success and there are tons of ways you can get involved! CCAT offers classes, free community workshops, and asks for volunteer help every friday.

The HSU College Conservatives, formerly the College Republicans, are dedicated to advancing the conservative viewpoint on campus, and providing support and advocacy for members of this minority. We believe in small government, capitalism, freedom of speech, and personal responsibility.
About the Club
In the fall semester of 2008, the HSU College Conservatives have been up to:
-Organizing a campus-wide Moment of Silence on the anniversary of 9/11
-Hosting movie nights, screening such films as Das Leben der Andere
-Attending the West Coast Leadership Conference
-Lobbying the University administration to change the wording of the Non-Discrimination Policy
-Organizing a series of events for World Freedom Week, Nov. 9-13. Look for the screening of the documentary on Monday, Nov. 10, at 5 pm in SH116; the military recruiters on the Quad on Nov. 12; and the blood drive on Nov. 13.

HUMBOLDT STATE UNIVERSITY MEN'S LACROSSE CLUB
The Humboldt State Men’s Lacrosse Club was founded in the Spring of 1983 by James Kircher and John Mahoney, both who played at Saint Ignatius College Prep School in the Bay area. Since its inception, the lacrosse club has worked to inspire and build interest in lacrosse at both the college and youth level in rural northern California communities. Currently, we travel throughout the Pacific Northwest to play lacrosse in both the Fall and Spring against teams from the PNCLL and WCLL. We also do outreach to the local community to help spread the sport of lacrosse by organizing lacrosse tournaments, giving presentations at local elementary and high schools, and hosting lacrosse clinics throughout the North Coast.

WHERE VISITING TEAMS CAN PARK FOR GAMES
No Parking permits and no meters are required to park during the weekends. You are allowed to park anywhere on campus, starting after 5 on Friday, except for a colored zone or a service vehicle zone. (See link to campus map). 17th Street and Union Street are the good places to park, as well as up the hill towards founders hall. Take Harpst St to B street and take a right on Laurel and go up the hill toward the Redwood Bowl. You can walk down the stairs from the West bleachers.
BREAKFAST OPTIONS FOR VISITING TEAMS
If your team is looking to get something to eat before your game Saturday morning, there are a number of breakfast places in Arcata that are all pretty good, and all within walking distance from the center of town (the Plaza). The Golden Harvest Cafe, Renatas Creperie, and Wildflower Cafe (organic) are all on G street, while the Crosswinds Cafe is on 10th St. All are pretty much within walking distance from campus or the plaza. For coffee and good pastries, the BRIO Bakery on the plaza is a good choice, as is Ramone’s Bakery in Wildberries Market on G street. We highly recommend Cafe Mokka‘s Finnish hot tubs and sauna to soak your bones after the game @ 495 J St, Arcata, CA – (707) 822-2228. They have old school private wooden tubs under the redwoods. You’ll need to make reservations the day before as they book up quickly.
