Fall 2013 Event#1: Adopt A Highway Clean Up! « all eventsPosted by: Natural Resources Club
Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Event Summary: The first 10 volunteers to sign-up will be helping clean up our 1.5 mile section of the 101 highway! We adopted this section almost a year ago, and are proud to maintain a section right outside of Humboldt State University. We're meeting at HSU in the Natural Resources building at 9:00am, outside of room NR 101 where our club cabinet is located. Here, we get gear handed out. We provide everything, volunteers must come dressed in long sleeves, pants, and sturdy footwear/boots. Some of the area on this section is inundated at times and has portions that have steep slopes. Proper footwear is important. If you have not watched the Adopt-a-Highway video before, detailing safety and other items, please indicate in an email (Cate at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) and arrangements can be made to get you the 20 minute DVD to watch before the event. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please contact us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Please have eaten breakfast before you come out. We will be on the highway and will not have a snack break.
Lunch will be provided after the clean-up through Big Pete's Pizzeria.
**THIS EVENT WILL BE CANCELLED/WE WILL NOT MEET IF IT RAINS** (because Cal-trans does not allow volunteers to work in the rain along the highway)
