INTRODUCTION TO SALSA
Please check back for upcoming classes
Salsa is an exciting and fiery dance style that originated in Cuba and Puerto Rico and has recently enjoyed an explosive growth of popularity. Come learn about the relationship between Latin rhythms and body movements and discover the passion of the music inside you. Instruction is geared toward the absolute beginner and will target: development of frame and posture, techniques of partner dancing (leading and following), etiquette, basic step patterns, turns, and variations that can be danced both alone and with a partner. This class will start with the basic Salsa Dance and end up as intermediate as the class will allow. All instruction will emphasize cultivating a physical understanding of the relationship between the music and the movements of Salsa, a feel for the music and the ability to have fun on the dance floor regardless of your skill level.
