Adults can utilize our lanes for lap swimming and exercise any hour the facility is open.
This is a one-day excursion to the snow for first time cross-country skiers and for those who wish to improve their skills. You will receive individual instruction in cross-country skiing including flatland and downhill techniques. Bring a friend or family member and enjoy a day in the snow!
This two-day course covers the basics of emergency care with an emphasis on extended care situations. A Wilderness First Aid certification card is awarded upon completion of the class. This certification is becoming the standard for First Aiders who are more than one hour from more advanced medical assistance. In order to recertify Wilderness First Responder through this WFA course, students must have a current WFR certification from WMI, SOLO, NOLS, WMA or WPT. Students are required to submit a photocopy of their WFR certification cards on the first day of the course. There is a one-year grace period for recertification of WMI & NOLS cards. (Keep in mind that you are not current during this grace period and therefore cannot work as a Wilderness First Responder.) Please check your WFR certification closely. WMI will not recertify cards from organizations other than those listed. CPR is not included. Please note that the registration deadline is well in advance of the course. Minimum class size is 15. Open to all teen athletes, this program includes exclusive, individualized training in the areas of plyometrics, speed development, strength development, power development, agility, Olympic lifting and flexibility.
This camp is a great option for the older camper who enjoys the thrills of our Aquatics Camp, but is ready for a new twist. Join us for an exciting week of teambuilding activities, climbing on a rock wall and surfing. Th fun continues as we head out to Ruth Lake for two nights under the stars and sunny, warm days filled with kayaking, canoeing, sailing and stand up paddling galore!
Get ready for one of the most well‐known summer camps in Humboldt County! This camp offers a variety of aquatic skills for campers of all skill levels. Campers can look forward to many exciting activities, including flatwater kayaking, canoeing, surfing, stand up paddling and sailing! Our caring and supportive staff also teaches water safety, environmental education and promotes positive group development.
Surf’s up for a popular favorite geared toward both our newest and veteran campers. Participants will enjoy both group and individual surf instruction on their choice of bodyboard or surfboard. Also offered during this four day camp are ocean safety and awareness, as well as positive group and personal development. This camp is ideal for both the experienced and beginners alike.
As the ancient Hawaiian form of surfing, Stand Up Paddle Surfing has reemerged as a popular and fun fitness form. The introduction course provides the essential information and skills needed to enjoy paddling on flat water. Enjoy the sights of our local waterfront, while getting a fun workout at the same time. Topics covered will include equipment, basic paddling technique and board maneuvering as well as health benefits.
This program focuses on developing paddling skills to get your teen started in whitewater kayaking. During the week, your teen will be introduced to the basics of kayaking on flatwater with a progression to moving whitewater. The focus will be on boating safety, basic strokes, boat control, hydrology, wet exits, and rolling the kayak. A combination of inflatable kayaks and hardshell kayaks will be used depending on the individual needs and skill progression. Teens will have plenty of opportunities to create new friendships and will finish out the week with an overnight campout on the Trinity River.
